Vic, both of my Paragons have the skirt ffirmly fastened to the knob and there is nothing between the skirt and the face plate. The shaft for the encoder is held to the knob by one set screw. No adjustment on either unit.

I think the skirt adjustment was a later offering on the Omni VI, perhaps,
and is sometimes retrofitted to the Paragon. Still, the drag on the main
tuning knob is adjustable and controlled by some copper fingers that press
against the smooth area of the panel behind the dial. You vary the drag by
how far from the panel the knob is positioned. Remove the knob as described before (and put a drop of light lubricant on the shaft while it is off) and
them mount it at the position that gives the feel you are seeking.

Lee,

Unfortunately my knob isn't the configuration you describe below in that the skirt doesn't turn. It's anchored (or molded at three points) to the inside
surface of the knob and is held on to the 1/4 inch shaft by one set screw.
It's possible I don't have the latest version of the knob assembly on this
unit which I purchased as reconditioned equipment from TT recently.

It was worth a try. Still a good radio.
