Yes, Rick the chip does improve the radio.
For others it may be a great improvement especially if you hook up to a  
computer.
I don't hook up that way.
Ed, may want that type of setup and if he changes the chip he will be  better 
off.
I was just speaking from my view and the way I use my rig.
If the pads were still available from Ten Tec or another source and I was  
doing a lot of contest work I would certainly go with the upgrade.
It is a much better chip than the Ten Tec.
