I think I read where the outside ring on the connector is the ground. so  you 
might try a jumper with a couple of aligator clips and some wire from the  
metal on the mic connector to the metal on the radio.. I don't remember where I 
 
heard it but I knew it was there , perhaps Mods.dk.. tom  N6AJR
