Grant up until this weekend I would have agreed with you. In general the
"hot-buttons" were small and did not really interrupt my operating style.
Ten-Tec seemed to be picking them off quite well.

However, this weekend my original Orion encountered the "keying-loop"
problem. (A problem that seems to be shared by both Orion platforms.) I
was worried I'd done some significant damage to my Hercules II. The
solution was re-cycle the Orion. Later yesterday it occurred for a 3rd time
(3 times in 105 contest-type QSOs) and required a complete Master Reset.

This issue is more than a hot button. It appears at random and stops my ham
radio activity! This IS a serious issue and T-T needs to get on it quickly.
(Because to the intermittent nature of this problem it won't be easy!) I've
reported it to ditsnbits and encourage others to do the same.

Like other original Orion owners, I'm now faced with a dilemma. Do I keep
running a flawed (I used to refer to it as stable - until this weekend)
2.xxx or do I abandon 2.xxx and return to the flakey 1.xxx. For the time
being I'm running 2.055 BUT, in an effort to protect my equipment, the #1
Keying loop is off and I am not running the amplifier.

Hopefully this problem will be resolved quickly and Ten-Tec can again begin
their attack on those "hot buttons".

I think this is an interesting discussion, and am willing to bet T-T is
reading the list, even though not actively engaging in it (which I find not
the least bit surprising).

We each have a feature or two that are our "hot buttons" and pick on them
endlessly. Whether it's NR, or NB, or notch, or something else that
doesn't seem to work as well as, or like, we were used to. I have my own
hot buttons on that list :-)
