In listening to radios effected with the problem, outboard processing would 
have not changed the basic 'raspiness' we've been hearing, in fact it might 
make it sound subjectively worse.  I don't have the problem on my O2 and I 
run the W2IHY 8-Band and EQplus, but even when I switch them out, the audio 
still sounds smooth and pleasant.  This is consistent with other O2 users 
who don't have the problem and who don't have any outboard equipment.
