hi Gang

And while you're at it, wear a grounded vest while you chase DX in the back
yard
with your closet linear :-)

Since the Omni VII will have an Ethernet port that provides
control, mic, and audio signals Ten Tec should create a small
controller panel with both Ethernet and USB ports on it.

1) Just plug the Omni VII into your home's network with a
wireless network modem on it.
2) Then plug a USB wireless network adapter into the
accessory control panel.
3) Next clip the controller to your belt.
4) Add a headset.

Then just wander about your house and yard while rag chewing
with the gang on your favorite band. And since it will have
full control of the radio itself you could even chase DX from
the back yard.

And if you have access to a broadband Internet connection
while on the road at a hotel somewhere you could use the
controller panel to run the VII from hundreds of miles away
as well. That way there would be no need at all for using one
of those pesky computers that are ruining ham radio to
operate the VII remotely ;).

I would suggest making the remote controller panel about the
same size as a IC-706 control head. Perhaps offer a second
version of it that has the same size front panel as the Omni
VII itself for less portable, but still remote operation.
