Allen,

The way I read Bernie's question, he is asking about the thicker solid line that is directly above the spectrum display. There is a "break" (it becomes a thin line) in it just between the "0" and the next number (.6, 1.2, 2.5, 5, or 10 - depending on the sweep range) to the left.

I read it this way because Bernie says: "Immediately above the spectrum sweep scope is a horizontal line on which the rectangles representing the bandpasses for the main (left) and sub (right) receivers rest". The rectangles don't "rest" on the the horizontal line(s) above the filter bandwidth graphic; which you correctly defined in your response.

Personally, I don't know what the break in the bar represents; interesting question, do you happen to know the answer?

The horizontal line above the filter bandwidth graphic represents the
bandwidth of the roofing filter in use at 9 MHz. The filter bandwidth
graphically represents the ultimate selectivity implemented by the
BANDWIDTH control in the DSP IF and the (wider) roofing filter gets
selected automatically based on the BW control. Hope this helps. 73,
