I've only had my Orion II for about a week but I was wondering about the
same thing. It is rather noisy. And I am a bit alarmed about the meter
slamming into the pin when sending CW at the 100 watt level. I sure
hope it isn't being abused. It is no problem when driving an amp
because I need only about 20 watts. But full power barefoot operation
is something else. Although my experience with it is obviously limited,
overall, it appears to be a very nice radio and a very good DX sniffer.
Now if it could only find DX all by itself . . . .

Subject: [TenTec] ORION II relay clicking CW?
Hi-
My other Ten Tec rigs all seem to have silent Morse keying using the
internal keyer but, with the ORION II I hear a keying relay click with
each CW element I send. No big thing, but I prefer the silent sending of
the other rigs. Is this typical or do I need to locate the relay and
lift it off the board? Or maybe a setting I have missed somewhere?
