Subject: [TenTec] hi/lo cut on Orion II
I have read many of the posts dealing with hi/lo cut on the Orion.
However, just when I thought I had it figured out, I am a little
confused again.
I basically have correlated the hi/lo cut functions to that of twin
passband tuning of the Icom rigs. I can use PBT on the Orion to tune the
entire passband one way or the other (which is like turning both
controls on the Icom rigs at the same time). However, I thought with
hi/lo cut I would be able to tune either side of the passband (like
turning only one control on the Icom). In operating the hi cut control,
I can see the change in BW at the same time as change in the PBT (this I
expected). However, I do not see the same effect when using the lo cut
option (it also does not matter which mode I am in). Therefore, seeing
the reaction of lo cut has confused me. The lo cut changes are no
different to me than adjusting the BW control.
Can someone please help me understand what is going on with this? Just
for reference, I am using the Orion II with the latest firmware (which
is outstanding BTW!!) I have never really used this function on the
Orions, but thought this might be just another tool to help me deal with
close-in interference (along with all the other tools available with the
rig!).
Thanks,
Mark
