Mike - I haven't installed a lot of s/w on pclinuxos like I have on
other distributions, but the most common install problem seems to be
with incompatible library files - the program you are installing is
looking for a different version of the c libraries than your
distribution has. That is a common gripe about Linux. Frequently you
have to install some older files with symbolic links for them to make
them look like
newer ones.
I would suggest the book "Linux Annoyances for Geeks" ($13 used, at
Amazon) as a good guide for anyone serious about trying to use
Linux in the hamshack. Lots of good advice at www.linuxquestions.org
too.
