Mike,
I know how vexing those intermittents can be. Have you tried backing off
and retightening any mounting screws for boards that might be providing
their common ground path? Have seen intermittents in other equipment due
to that.

I'm afraid it's happened...my Orion II may have bitten the big one! When
I turn it on, I get the half-bright meter face, but then nothing else
happens. It stays like that forever with no LED's lit and nothing on the
screen. Power supply is OK and I measure +14 V on the accessory output on
the back of the radio. Anyone else ever see this sort of behavior?

Ron:
I had the exact same symptoms after an Astron power supply failed and fed
my
Orion II 28 volts.
Schematic A0 81908_5 shows the power conditioning input circuit. In my
case,
D116, a 16v Zener failed and shorted to ground through a 1K resistor.
Although you say the power supply is fine, I would still check this out
first.
Good luck,

That's what mine looked like when the logic board bit the dust. The
radio
just isn't booting up.

A problem recently developed with my Omni V. After
being on an hour or more, I lose transmit and receive
on 80 & 160 meters. These are the only bands affected.
I can turn the rig off for 5 minutes and 80 & 160 come
back. I've had this happen after as little as 1 hour
and take as long as 12 hours. Any ideas/help
appreciated.
Jeff
