There's nothing like a full QSK amp to solve the problem.

The relay in the Omni VI+, when used to key the amp, does not provide delay for RF output thus the amp is likely to switch hot. The TX EN is the correct way to delay the RF output from the Omni VI+ when using the internal keyer.

I operated my Omni V, Omni VI, and Omni VI+ with the Ameritron AL-80A, which
is pretty much identical to the SB-1000 linear.

It worked great on SSB, but initially I had a lot of trouble with arcing
relay contacts (inside the amp) when working CW at anything close to QSK.
I had to burnish the relay contacts every month or two.

I solved the problem by using a home-brew time sequencing device which keyed
the amp's TR relay about 10ms before passing the keying signal on to the
Omni. It also had an adjustable delay (max about 1 second) working like a
VOX "hang". This eliminated the relay following the keying signal (also
eliminated full QSK), but it did solve my problem completely. This required
using an external keyer rather than the Omni's built-in keyer, but after
that, I never had relay problems again.

Has anyone here hooked up a Heath SB-1000 linear amplifier to an Omni V?
If so, how well did it work?
