Thanks Hank for the paper! Anyone who gets an old Boonton, I bet there
are a number of us who could talk you thru ideas on freeing up
bandswitches, and capacitor binding. It takes care to be sure to have
all the mounting details recorded in photos and drawings before you
remove the capacitor, but if you can get it out, you can likely free it
with cleaning and relubrication.
The availabilty of compressed air in cans is great aid to cleaning up
old instrumentation, if you are careful how you direct the spray of
air. Products like DeOxit do wonders on capacitor bearings and contacts
of rotary switches.
