Here is an excerpt of a post John Henry made last week on the Omni VII
Yahoo! Group concerning the Jupiter.

"New one's shipped will now have a more crisp easier to read display,
and also a larger memory. What does this mean? Means we can do things
like we have done in the OMNI-VII, and give it more "personalities". The
main personality we were showing at the Hamfest was the CW-Decoder
personality. This mode provides much narrower CW filters than were
previously available, and a CW Decoder that displays the received CW
characters, and will also allow you to transmit using a PS/2 keyboard
plugged into the back of the Jupiter. We will build up "personality"
modules that you will be able to program into the larger memory Jupiter,
up to 6 of them can reside in the larger memory chip at a single time.
You will also be able to take these same "personalities" and program
them one at a time into the existing Jupiter memory chip. So existing
Jupiter owners will benefit from the more highly tuned mode specific
personality software that the larger chip will provide. Only difference
is that with the larger memory chip (which will be offered as an upgrade
to existing Jupiter owners), you will be able to press a couple of
buttons and jump from personality to personality. With the existing
memory chip you will need to reprogram one
personality to be used at a time. meaning that a true CW op will be able
to run more finely tuned CW algorithms, better filters, etc. (which will
still support sideband modes for those who split cw/sb). Or they can
jump back to the existing Jupiter fully functional firmware. I hope
that's understood.

Either the smaller existing chip or the larger memory chip can be used
in existing Jupters, the chip will be available as an upgrade option.
Pop the top/bottom off, pull the DIP part out (no soldering), and place
the new part in its place, then program into it the personalities you
want. Thinking of a next personality for more optimized voice modes.
Others are still tbd."
