just to let you know that I have tried everything suggested now except for the
removing of the front panel in vain.
Transmitter is ON, Transverter is OFF. There is a small consumption of ca 5A
when TXing and some very tiny signal seems to be going out but that is about
it. Meter shows nothing and it does not depend on mode or anything else. All
the resets done.
So I will either get inside removing the front panel or will send the radio for
repairs.

Tonno,
If all fails, before you send it for repair, remove the front panel and
loosen the logic/display boards from the keypad board as well as the logic
board from the display board. You do not need to take them apart. Then put
some contact cleaner on the connectors for the pins between the boards and
move the board out and into the connectors. This should clear any
possibility of oxidation on the pins. Go to
http://rfsquared.com/file_download/22 and download the PDF file on taking
the panel loose. The file is about doing the V2 mod for the Orion. You
only need to review far enough to remove the front panel. It has great
pictorials. I hope you find something easier than going this far, but it
does not take very long to do.

Have you tried switching the load to ANT 2 ? Is the power supply current
changing as you raise the power ????
