Be careful about beta tests--TenTec might decide that they need to have a
Omega test and drop the whole thing!

I fully agree with Martin. Ten-Tec used Beta test users earlier in the
life of the
Orion, but discontinued their use. Too often, TenTec released V1 and V2
code releases "fast"
with many bugs. That led to many people finding the problems, a flurry of
notes on this reflector,
and then to another release - which was not fully tested - which led to a
flurry of notes on
this reflector, and then to another release - which was not fully tested -
which led to a
flurry of notes .................and on and on. Beta tests should be
thorough and should find all but the
most subtle of issues. Whether TenTec uses all internal Beta testers, or
some "field
Beta testers" - like Elecraft, the "final release" product should be "very
close to bug free."
