Marty, try that wire (insulated) around your roof--to keep it from
grounding. or maybe a flagpole antenna. if you have a tree in your yard
throw a vertical loop around it. a loop as high as you can go and vertical
is very effective for the long haul. i confirmed 112 countries on 30 meters
with a single 100 foot quad loop fed with 72 ohm coax. the feedpoint was at
about 50 feet.
