You can adjust the Orion AGC Threshold level in the Menu/Receiver section.
Just increase it from the default 1 uV and the noise will appear to
decrease.

Wow...I notice just the opposite.... I use the O2 and the K3 mainly for
vhf...mostly 6 meters.
maybe the noise is different but I have a lot of power line noise and I
find that the O2 will take it out completely where as the K3 will not..I
also noitce thet the K3 will not take out the very sharp spike of
noise..like a switch turning on..
But what I do notice the K3 advantage over the O2 is when setting the
volume to a comfortable level and when the signal ends the background
noise is quieter on the K3...this might be due to the O2's AGC which we
all are waiting for a fix..
meanwhile the O2 seats in the corner covered up while I still play with
the K3....
these are both Very good rigs...I don't think we will ever find the
perfect rig........but they are close....
