I haven't been using the AF AGC, mostly because the IF AGC works fine, but
also because the AF system is still a 'work in progress'. This is a Beta
release, and there needs to be work done to fix the popping problem in the
AF AGC on very strong signals and to equalize the level with the IF system.
This release is a good start, and as I mentioned in early posts, many
functions in the radio seem to work better. One of the things I would like
to see changed in the final version is the S-meter 'freeze' that occurs when
tuning. I'm so used to seeing the meter move up and down as I tune across
signals, and losing that function is a bit annoying. I understand about
freezing the sweep, and I actually like that since you can 'target' a signal
that might disappear before you get tuned there, but the S-meter freeze is
disconcerting.
The "red vertical lines" problem on the sweep needs to be fixed, too. I
doubt that any of this will be addressed until the new version for the
"original" Orions is released.
