[TenTec] Argonaut 505 reed relay

Hello-
    I was thinking about converting an Argonaut 505 from the reed relay RF 
switch to the PIN diode switch as used in the model 509. I have the parts here 
on hand already, and thought it may improve the reliability of the set. Has 
anyone done this? Would some touching up on receiver front end be necessary?
