| A fellow ham dropped me an email with a fix for the keying "pop" which I must
say I had my doubts till I actually tried it and worked, very simple fix and
below is a portion of his email on the fix, just thought I pass it on to others.

>>>If your keying issue is related to your keyer not taking the signal close
>>>enough to ground (like a straight key closure) you can try biasing the
>>>keying circuit just by putting a 1.5v AA battery in series with the key
>>>line.  I had to do this when I interfaced to my Kenwood TS-440 keying
>>>circuit from my MFJ-1279 sound card interface.  The photo-optic isolator
>>>just would not consistently key the rig.  I found the tip online somewhere
>>>and it worked great.<<<

>>>It would be easy to test - I am not sure of the polarity but there are only
>>>2 ways to try ;-)  The battery will last a long, long time.  If, after
>>>testing it and it works, you can buy a 1 cell holder at Radio Shack so that
>>>you can easily replace the battery every 3 years or so.<<<

Im curious to see what others think about this.
