It's ICom commands OK, called CI-V if I remember right. I fiddled around for ages with the TenTec TTL to RS232 box and got abosolutely nowhere. I bought a serial to DB9 connector for ICom rigs off EBay and it worked fine with MixW, full CAT and all that. You'll need ICom settings in your software. Mine were for - I think - IC-735.
