What kind of noise are we looking at here.Don't want to seem dumb but , I have used several switching supplies and to this date I have never had a problem that I am aware of. Gene WB9HLA

It is neither a rumor nor outdated. It is POSSIBLE to build quiet switchers,
but it costs more, so 99.9% of all switchers are nasty noise generators.
