Well my latest project arrived today. A TenTec Omni D Series B. It powers
up that is a plus I supposes. Current symptoms as of now:

1) Frequency display shows 9.000.0 or 1.000.0, on the 29.5, 29.0, AUX
and 3.5 band positions with no TX or RX on these bands

Crystals missing or not oscillating for those bands. 29 and 29.5 may have been options as was aux.

2) The PTO will have to be rebuilt as tuning is super super slow.
Never done one, but I believe TenTec still sells the kit still.

Took me three hours the first one, haven't done a second. Its hand to work in a cafeteria tray to catch the loose balls from the drive and end thrust when they try to get away from you.

3) Some scratchy pots ant switches are going to need some de-oxit

Cramolin has a product better for pots that DeoxIT, I've heard.

4) The band switch is somwhat stiff when going into the 29.0 and 29.5
positions

If those weren't ever used, they might be stiff.

Can I assume problem 1 may be with the band switch???

Might be if the crystals are present. Then a quarter drop of dexoIT on the switch contacts and some exercise may be a benefit.

How do I get the PTO out?

Probably, take off the knobs, and the front panel. Find the three wires to the PTO and unsolder them, then unbolt the PTO. You'll need a bit of strong cord to get the slow dial back in place.

On the bands that work I get full output power so the finals work. Even
made a DX contact to France on 15 meters. While trying it out.

Thanks,

Lou
