Well the OM is interested in CW and I don't think it's a good idea to go for
a transceiver which has no provision for a CW filter.

The 210x had nearly the same IF frequency as the Drake R4C.
It was an easy mod to replace the Atlas filter with a Drake filter, and then
add a CW filter.
That is more trouble and cost today than it would be worth.

Now if you really want a cheap solution, look for a Triton II or IV with
blown transistors.
You can jumper the output of the driver board directly to the input of the
low pass filters and you have yourself a 10w QRP rig. The manual even tells
you how to do it. They typically go for about 50 to 75 dollars with blown
finals.

The manual switching of the Atlas was for CW use, unless you had the VOX
option module. SSB switching was PTT. The receiver had an excellent
crystal filter.

The rig had plenty of sensitivity on DX bands like 20m. However, the
Corsair models from Ten Tec had more professional appearance IMHO. And
the Ten Tec Scout is excellent for simple to operate either CW or SSB.
