I did the PTO in my Corsair a number of times in an attempt to cure a 
warble - which was caused by a dirty pot and not the PTO! I got quite 
adept at it and could do it in about 2 hours including taking it out and 
re-installing it.

I nearly used methyl chloride as a solvent until I realised it would 
dissolve the plastic fittings! In the end I used petrol (= gas).

One trick I used when I fixed watches to avoid losing small parts: cut a 
hole in each end of a shoebox big enough for your hands to get through 
and put a sheet of glass or perspex on the top of the box so's you can 
see what you're doing. Anything which flies off will stay in the box.
