Doyle,

I would forget adjusting the bearings. I replaced mine about 4 years ago - TT picked up the tab. I priced the fan a few years ago and priced out at $40 including shipping.

The fan is a pita to replace. My fan was secured with allen bolts. I should have replaced them with slotted or phillips head bolts.

Hi Hank,
Thanks for the information about the fan removal. May give it a try
after VP8ORK goes QRT.
Did TT say how to adjust the bearings?
See that I have worked you last weekend in the 160 contest, thanks for
the Q.
   Thanks again.

Doyle - Its some what of a pita to get to but the bottom two screws can be
reached with a long allen wrench - TT provided the holes which allow a long allen wrebnch to get to those without taking out the subassembly that holds
the tubes and filament choke etc. The top two allen screws are not bad ,
just takes time a quarter turn at a time ! The ac line plugs in to the side
.

My fan started to squeal when it was only a few weeks old - and TT said to
try tightening the bearing s. That required remoiving the label onnthe fan -
and then I still had to remove the RFC and parasitic board to get to the
screws. I belive the fan will come out without doing that and that might
have been easier but I did not have long enough allen wrench at hand (I do
now ) .

I bought two replacement fans but have not needed them yet .

The stock one is a BISONIC 4E-115B-25 115vac /21w at 60 hz. There is one
that will fit exactly the same but is about 20 cfm more airflow its a
BISONIC 4E -115B 115vac /22w at 60 hz. I bought one of each from Mouser a
couple years ago less than $20 each .
