Cramolin red is a cleaner -- it removes oxides and sulfides from
metals. It is and always was intended to be washed out with solvent
and followed by a preservative such as Cramolin Blue. Cramolin
always advised that proper use of red and blue required miniscule
amounts -- you shouldn't be able to tell that there is any on your
workpiece. You can use them on pots, but their forte is switches,
relays, sockets, card-edge connectors, and the like.

Best regards,

Charles
