I have a Corsair II that I use everyday to log PSK-31 DX. With the external VFO and 1.8kHz, 500 Hz, and 250 Hz options, I 've worked a lot of DX with it. I had the digital display recapped and that’s about it. I'll probably try to keep my Corsair II as long as I can operate and not worry about the cost of doing so. I'm on my third newer radio from Ten-Tec (Paragon, OMNI-VI+, and now OMNI-VII) and although the newer radios are better from a station integration standpoint and have better close-in third order IMD and blocking, the pure analog dual receive receiver section, and 100w TX QSK of the Corsair II, still works well when snagging a weak DX station before the pile-up. And I can still repair and maintain the radio or find someone who can.

For me the Corsair II is like a Chevy 283 V-8, there's newer equipment, but the old classic (I know well) still does the job and then some.... it’s a "keeper"!

73 es DX,

Hi Don... there seems to be no accounting for it. My local friend,
Chuck AJ8W, has been working on another guy's TT Omni C for nearly 6
months, and is only now getting on to the final fix. I don 't think
these things are explained by any sort of cost-benefit analysis.

His wife says his is "crazy."

Maybe he is. ;-)

Happy Trails.

Steve - I could not help but notice that you are sure spending an aweful large amount of time working on a very old radio. ;-)
