I have an Argo V for sale. The factory said it had a lightning hit,
but there had been no storms during the time I last used it until
it quit. An impulse or power surge maybe.
It receives and all functions seem to work, except that the power
output is low, about 3 watts on an old MFJ watt meter with the
lowest scale 20 watts. When you remove a jumper on one of
the boards, transmit goes up to the full rated power, so I surmise
the finals are OK.
The power control does not move the output upscale however.
Receive is OK, with some distortion. The bandwidth and other
controls work as specified, mode, band, and all the other controls.
Read out is fine, the other controls work. Cosmetically, the unit
is at least a 9+. It has the precision time base controller. (Not
certain this is the correct term?)
Suspect problem is in the control circuitry and several semi-conductors
there have been changed, with no improvement.
I'm asking $150 plus actual shipping cost if anyone is interested in
taking a chance at fixing it. One repair tech who works on all
brands said he would take a try at it, but I'd just as soon move
it on.
Email with any questions that you might have.
