True, but the Orion II manual says that you can adjust the output to the
transverter only from +5 to +15 dBm, and the FTV-1000 needs only -13 dBm
for full output. The Yaesu transverter may operate a bit differently
from others, as the 28 MHz drive is supplied through a separate cable
from the transceiver's transverter output jack and the PA stage of the
driving Yaesu transceiver is turned OFF in a menu item. I see that you
can turn the transmitter off in an Orion TX menu item, but I'll bet that
also disables the transverter drive output jack on the Orion.
