Ten Tec had the crystal for 12m, what a blessing, but it turns out I did not 
need it, the 12m crystal is located closest to one of the board mounting 
holes. The side of the crystal closest to the hole had broken at the solder 
connection. It works FB now after resoldering it.

Thanks Rick, I can probably cheat and set an external receiver w/probe at 
the crystal frequency, probably the next course of action.

Don,

This is another case where a scope would be a real blessing.
You would see in a few seconds whether or not the oscillator were
functioning.
