My Corsair-II ('88 build) also stops at about 3.5 on 20m with otherwise S-4 PSK-31 signals with the gain turned full CW. I find that the band switch and other controls need to be exercised occasionally

or sensitivity will appear to be less than should be expected. Still it’s a good radio for being nearly 25 years old. I use it mostly for PSK-31 and RTTY but I can still work DX, full QSK and dual RX.

Hi Mike,
On my Corsair II, anything below a 3.5 on the front panel (RF Gain) and
the receiver is pretty much dead. I tried it with and without the AGC being
turned on. Before digging to deep into the IF/AGC circuit, you might want
to check to pot to make sure it is good and the right taper. I have no idea
what the taper should be.
BTW, I hope you DDS is working fine by now.

Like the subject line says, I have a question for Corsair II users

On my Corsair II, when I reduce the RF gain down to about six on the scale,
the receiver is dead. The only action I have on receiver gain from from max
clockwise to about 6 1/2 or so on the control.

Every thing seems fine, sensitivity is right where it should be, only the
control has just a small amount of range.

so before i tear into the IF/AF section, is this normal?

Thanks,

mike, wb8vge
