The switch is an integral part of the mike.
I've found the basic issue is the plastic to plastic mechanism at the pivot
point squeak when moving thus while being depressed. A small dab of
Vaseline applied corrects the problem. The second issue is the button
smacks the side of the mike at a point in time after the PTT contact is
closed. Thus the transmitter is on the air and then the physical contact
with the side of the mike which is transmitted through the case to the
element to the radio.
Lubricate the pivot points and shorten the throw of the PTT lever corrects
the problem.

What would happen if you swapped the switch out?
I think that is what I would try to do, as the problem
continues but is, now, minimized. You can use the
current switch until we determine a quiet replacement.
Is there any reason we could not scour the planet
and find a better, quieter switch? I would pitch in
on that project. It might assist others, as well.
Happy days.

I have minimized the button noise by snipping off a bit of the switch
plunger inside the mike. Now the button activates the PTT just a bit
before its travel limit. Thus, the noise and scratching the mic puts
out over the air is now restricted to that last bit of button travel.
