Paul,

I've used bunches of A/D switches, both the 2 and 4 position. The only
times that I've seen failures were.

1. Hot switching - turning the switch with a lot of RF power applied.

2. Bad Pellet - check the breakdown voltage of the pellet. Chances are
the pellet is open (out of gas) and not protecting the contacts. I have
not had an A/D break except for physical (the knob was sheered off).

3. Arc over - a direct lightning strike when the contacts were fused
together and the coaxial cable (on the antenna side) melted. Note the
connected radio was NOT damaged.

Quoting Paul DeWitte <k9ot@yousq.net>:

I have 2 Alpha Delta 4 position antenna switches that I use for 2 different radios. Both of these have failed in at least one position.

For those of you that use multiple position switches, what have you found to work the best. I am not interested in remote electrically switched ones. These switches are right at the operating position.

Thanks,73
