I just read the thread and enjoyed it quite a bit. I have not posted in a
while; in fact the date of my last post probably corresponds to the date that
my Elecraft K3 arrived. Having said that, I still read the group bulletins and
enjoy the banter. This weekend I wiped a little dust off my TT Omni 6 and
rooted around the desk drawers until I found the microphone and proceeded to
have a ball during the CQ World wide DX SSB contest. It has been a few months
since I used the Omni and much longer since I used the microphone, but it sure
was fun. Of course, the new hex beam antenna helped out the fun quotient too. I
think I enjoy DXing more that contests, but I am not too choosy. I too like a
radio with knobs and although I keep a computer log, I do not control the radio
with the computer and I use a paddle or key to send my code. I like my TT rigs,
but I also like my Elecraft rigs. For cw, I now go to the K3 and I really do
not have any problems at all with
the menu. Once the rig is set up there is very little that gets changed. I
will keep this short and say 73s - our long forecasted winter storm as just
arrived in SW Montana and I think I will check on the new antenna. On the top
rig criteria, I should have maybe got something with dual receivers but I can
add to the K3 later. The Omni 6 is still pure pleasure from any standpoint. 73s
