The list administrator explained what had happened and to let him know if
you were having problems. It was a couple of days ago but I have deleted it.

Hardly think it was a scam. I received several from different list. I
clicked on the link provided, and got the legitimate web page. Since I
had long forgotten my password, it was also reset. My satellite link was
interrupted for a couple of days due to roof replacement which I assume
caused the "bounce"

No, it means that when the list sent something to you, the message
bounced back to the list. It usually means that your email carrier was
rejecting messages.
