Earlier someone mentioned something like $1800.
Let's hope that was very wrong.
It will be a total flop at that price.

Quite right.

I think it will flop at any price. I doubt hams are flocking to
buy Palstar's overpriced, simplistic, general coverage
receiver. This seems based on the same receiver and the
same design philosophy - like the German Bauhaus design
school: "less is more" - and if less costs more, it will flop.

MY take: I don't think it will sell at any price. While it may
appeal to older hams... it MUST appeal to hams who will actually
spend money. A LOT of older hams talk about what they want
in a new rig, but they won't be buying anything at any price, so
it really does not matter what appeals to them.

I got money to spend... but I won't likely buy THIS rig. I think
it will flop in any case.

I don't agree that it has to be cheaper than the other intro-radios.
It needs to come in quite a bit under $1K.
I don't think they will shy away from $700 or $800.

It certainly is different and will appeal to older hams, but I fear the
ceramic filters will spell disaster as far as performance goes.

I kind of like what I see in that Palstar.
It now all depends on the price. It simply has to come in significantly less
then other beginner rigs.

I don't suppose there is a big enough market to support Ten-Tec or

It looks like Palstar may gamble that there is:

It is an interesting rig, but I don't see it as being easy to service
or easy to keep a stock of essential replacement parts for.
