Aloha Barry!

I'm in digest mode :-)

Yes. Nothing plugged in. No continuity to ground on tip or ring. 5V on tip.
If I ground the tip, I get the expected alternating dots and dashes. If I
pull the ring up to 5V, the dashes do not stop.

I would like to check the interface on the A7 board but do not know where
it is on the board. I would like to check as far as possible without
disassembling the boards from the front panel.

There is also the problem of no audio from the sub-receiver. I've read
about problems caused by monaural plug in the headphone jack but find no
detail or repair info. If I'm going to disassemble the front panel boards,
I'd like to know more about where to look for the audio problem. There are
so many small parts on the board that I'd rather not spend half a day or
more matching them up with the wiring diagram. If it comes to doing that,
I'll take some photos and post them.
