The Scout, with noise blanker, would be about as good as you can do in a mobile these days. Great performance, small size, not many buttons to mess with (and cause a crash!). Stop the car to change bands?

I still use my old faithful Scout for mobile. The noise blanker in it takes out almost all of my igintion noise, the Clear Speech speaker I run outboard finishes it up. Very good for mobile CW.

I also add: I have been using my "beta test" Scout (that Jack Burchfield sent to a number of us over 25 years ago) for Mobile CW ever since. I verify Gary and Dwight's findings, and also agree that the Scout Noise Blanker is the best I have ever used, compared to my Triton 4, Omni C, Corsair II, Delta II and Paragon. My Scout has endured endless bumps, vibration, dust and dirt and still going strong. Twice in the past 25 years I did pull the microprocessor and reseat it to clean the contacts. This handled any "instability" that came up. 'Long live the Scout" :-)
