Parallels looks for the USB device and assigns it  (in my case) COM3:

You need to have Parallels running before you insert your USB to Serial 
converter. Windows will ask you if you want to use that device in MAC OS or 
Windows. 

Select “Windows” and you should be good to go, hopefully on COM3:

When you open the Ten Tec updater, you need to select the COM port and COM3: 
worked for me.
