I wouldn't hold my breath on that $600 model being any better than the
others.
Products from that source tend to cost a bit more.

I didn't quite understand you problem description and antenna setup.
Were the strong local stations ham stations in band or local broadcast
stations?

It helps to put a preselector before the MAIN antenna input and then use a
much smaller antenna for the sense antenna.  Even a highpass filter helps if
its broadcast band stations interfering.  

The sense antenna doesn't always have to be a big outdoor antenna.  Usually
I used about 10m of wire for the sense antenna, strung out the window to a
tree or fence.

I can not use the MFJ on 160 without a trap on the main antenna because of
strong local stations causing all manner of intermod. The solution will be
two antennas for RX phasing. Two of the others cancelling circuits do not
look any better on paper. The third offers no paper but at $600 it must be
good! ;-)
