Many thanks for the helpful advice.

I have no idea why my friend's bug is wired the way it is. He's 92 and in a
wheelchair, so I doubt if he'd remember.

He has volunteered to be trustee for our retirement community's new club
station, KC3IGL, so he's a trooper.
