Shuts down meaning the OMNI 6 shuts of the power supply with zero drive. As
other TenTecs, if you reset the condition by turning the power off and back on
- the radio comes back up. My OMNI VII will do the same with too much SWR. The
PA transistors always have VCC on them when the radio is turned on, so I doubt
they are shorted. Just looking for past experience, if any out there.

Shuts down.....meaning:completely powers off and does not come back on at "key up"?
Or....shuts down....meaning:rig stays on, all indications are that it is in TX, but no power
output? Or: shuts down, meaning your power supply is going under-voltage, or is itself
"shutting down"? I personally would verify voltage INSIDE the rig on TX before I did
anything else.
Keep us posted. Greg, KC8HXO

Tnx for that info, Vic: Good to know.

Tnx to the TT community, I had a response this morning from a local
friend. Just a short drive and a rag-chew and I'm all set.

Tnx to all that responded.

I finally got back around to messing with the intermittent sensitivity problem
I have. After looking at the solder joints on the RF board closer, I see all of
them look sort of frosty and wrinkke like a cold solder joint. So, I'm
wondering if Ten-Tec had quality problems with some of the Jupiters? It will
take forever and a day to resolder all of those joints. Does anyone here have
an RF board for a Jupiter you'd want to sell?

I have an OMNI 6+ that instantly shuts down when keying on CW with no
output drive or on SSB with mike gain at zero. It is not an SWR issue.
Any hints? Just put it on the bench to start looking at it. The manual
describes the ALC circuit pretty well.

Check the ALC or sensor silicon diodes first.

I have a number of Ten Tec Xcvrs and I hope it is not shorted final
transistors. Do you have the switch in the amps drawn position? I have an Omni
VI plus and it has a current drawn position. My Triton IVs, and older Omni shut
down with SWR mismatch, finals drawing too much current etc. . I have forgotten
the how the protection in my Tenb Tec Scout works.
Do you have the DRIVE turned down to minimum? With No or Low drive the XCVR
should not shut down or throw the breaker.
I am not a great radioman but have had a lot of shutdowns? .... like when no
antenna is connected? !!!!

Let us know what you determine the problem to be. 73, John, K5PGW

Hello to All,

I am considering parting with my Ten-Tec Titan III (Model 417A)
amplifier S/N 12C10096 purchased from the factory in February
2008. It has the original pair of Svetlana 4CX800A tubes which
provide max legal output. Included are the original manual in
superior condition as well as all the goodies which came with
it. (Spare fuses, tube chimney clamps, hex wrenches, an extra
ten-meter input board, and the factory shipping boxes.)

The amp is in excellent condition (9++), no scratches or dings, and
has only been used in a non-smoking environment. I've never had any
problem with it, and it performs as it should. My reason for
considering selling is my age--it weighs more than I want to lift--84
lbs. (More than half my weight!) Shipping would be a problem, so I
would much prefer that it be picked up at my home in Hobbs, NM.
