The PTO shaft is not grounded so a small frequency shift occurs when your hand
gets close to the dial & dial skirt.One mod was to use a cut down safety pin to
short out the shaft as it passes through the front panel.One caution would be
to use brass instead of steel to reduce the wear on the PTO shaft.
The is a method of fixing the cracked knobs by wedging the crack closed with a
small piece of plastic or toothpick then filling the gap between the outer and
inner sleeve with epoxy. After the epoxy cures the plastic will not crack
again. Try to use the minimum torque on the set screws to hold the knobs on the
shafts.
