I used these instructions on my own rig and it worked fine. People have
strong opinions about the Powerpole connectors so this solution might not be
for everyone. All I can tell you is that the mod was done ~10 years ago
(I've sold the rig since then) but the new owner uses it daily and the
connector has been reliable.

What a headache. So much current flows that the Molex connector melts (yes,
probably because the pins are loose and not making good connection). Does
anyone have a suggestion for a better connector? I am going to scour my
collection of MIL-SPEC circular connectors to see if anything will fit. When
the connector lets go, it sounds like the entire radio is exploding, ugh.
