$145 just to open the box. My last repair experience with the new management
did not go as planned: my fault, I guess. About a 5 – 7 years ago, I sent an
Orion to them but failed to note NO USPS. When my box got there by USPS, it sat
somewhere and was returned to me untouched. For some reason the TenTec folks
would not accept USPS but DHL, Fedex and UPS were A-OK. Oh well.

I stopped by their table at ham fest . Had some Alpha amps a Eagle radio and a
dipole antenna. I didn’t ask about repair but wouldn’t think Ten Tec repairs
will ever happen.
New Ten Tec radio this fall ! Not likely as you would think he would have had a
radio box on table with a little sign saying New Radio coming !
If there is a new radio it will have to be a good great radio to sell. It
will have to put the Icom 7300 to shame! Oh by the way Icom rep said they have
now sold over 100,000 7300!
I would worry about buying a new alpha amp, whether or not Parts will be
available or even repair within a reasonable time. Then reasonable repair cost.
I think Ten Tec was it a little over $100 an hour when they shut down the
repair service. Don’t think there’s a very good track record here.
