Hello Folks!
A few of us in Winnipeg have a short-term golden opportunity to gain
access to a recently shutdown AM BCST 3 tower array on 630 khz which we
want to use on 160. This chance will only happen for a VERY limited
period of time, and we want to make the most of this rare opportunity
while we have it. The towers will likely be dropped in the spring, and
sold as scrap metal.
We have the ability to put about 1500 watts to the feedpoint.
Here's where we could use your help/reactions/opinions, to see if this
whole project is worthwhile:
1 - These towers are 350' high with a 24" face and a full 120 radial
system 1/2 wave long. Lifting just the center tower off the power
divider, what kind of radiation angle can we expect from one of these
towers since it will be so long electrically?
2 - Does anyone have the software and wherewithall to model this
installation for us?
3 - Can we expect several Beverage antennae to work well if laid out
from the hut we will operate from (at the base of the center tower)
bearing in mind the radial system under it? If they won't do well into
EU and SA, can you recommend something appropriate?
We thank-you for your help, and look forward to doing some 160 work for
about a week that may well keep us misty-eyed and happy well into our
old age, longing for the good old days of our 160 youth!
