Those who are interested in hearing how one industrious ham has approached
Balloons on 160 would do well to confer with Marty, W3YOZ, in Maryland, who
has taken the art to a new level, IMHO. (He is not on the internet,
unfortunately, but can usually be found on/about 1865.)
Marty built a Rohn 25G thirty-foot elevated feedpoint, with elevated
radials, extensive ground radials, hanger for the "real" adverstising
balloon, buried his power lines, got refillable K cylinders, etc. etc. etc.
- all over a salt marsh on the Chesapeake Bay! He experiments with
differing lengths and current designs from quarter to five/eights wave.
He broke the IG9 a few weeks back with the first call using it, when other
big guns were struggling a just a little...

John
