>GREAT SIGNALS ON 160
>-------------------
>ON4UN " I was listening on 80 (3507 and 3779) and 160 (1826.5)
>when at 18:50 I started hearing "a" singal on 1826.5. Two
>minutes later I heard VK0IR sending "UP". I called 5 KHz up
>and he came right back. There was no one else calling at that
>time. Minutes later I announced them in the DX Cluster, and
>immediately several stations started calling. At 19:11 he
>disappeared from 1826.5. Some time later they showed up on
>1822. They remained on 1822 all evening long until their
>sunrise. Around 22:30 - 23:00 they were working East Coast
>USA! Great show. We'd like to find out who made it from the US?
>Those who made it, can we share your joy and pride?"
(Sounded to me like mostly W1/W2/W3 were working him with W4DR
in Richmond being the farthest station south to work him. Here
I only detected dots and dashes from about 2237 until 2255 and
not enough copy to risk calling. Unfortunately, my prediction
about needing >30 minutes of common darkness seemed to be about
right today. Maybe conditions will improve for those of us who
are "darkness challenged"! I'm happy the amount of darkness will
gradually increase during their stay. 73, Bill W4ZV)
>THANKS FOR THE MANY REPORTS
>---------------------------
>So far have received over 150 reception reports on the beacon.
>Thanks to all who took the time to help! Keep the reception
>reports coming! Lets' especially check the "difficult" bands.
